Made for Young Delicate Skin
Our gentle, fragrance-free skin care and color cosmetics formulas are designed to balance and enhance the natural beauty of the skin – not to disrupt, strip or irritate the delicate skin barrier.
Empowerment Through Education
Our products are made to uplift and educate girls on the importance of healthy skin care habits, while supporting and nurturing the beginning of their beauty journey.
We strive to work with ingredients that are consciously harvested and produced to create products that are formulated to avoid toxic and allergenic ingredients. Clean ingredients are thoughtfully sourced and utilized to help maintain healthy skin and our environment. An ingredient’s source does not always determine its safety. For example, many plants, whether or not they are natural or organically grown, may be toxic or inspire allergic reactions within the skin.
C’est Moi™’s NO WAY list documents over 1400 ingredients that are banned in the European Union (EU), in addition to the 30 ingredients that have been banned in the United States of America (USA) to date. We take our NO WAY list a step further to ensure that we are never creating products intentionally formulated with the following additional ingredients which may be linked to cancer, hormone disruption, sensitization of the skin and common allergic reaction
We Say NO WAY to Toxic Ingredients:
BHT and BHA
Coal Tar Dyes
(Such as oxybenzone, Avobenzone, Octisalate, Octocrylene, Homosalate and Octinoxate)
We Say YES PLEASE to Formulating with:
Although there is no official definition of the term “natural” as it relates to cosmetic ingredients, C’est Moi defines natural ingredients as materials derived from plant, and mineral-based origin present in or produced by nature. These ingredients are free from petrochemicals
Plant Derived Ingredients:
C’est Moi™ defines these ingredients as materials derived or created from a natural plant source that have been processed/modified to provide a specific function within a product, such as a surfactant (cleanser), emollient (moisturizer), emulsifier, conditioning agent, or preservative.
Our organic ingredients come from plants present in or produced by nature, and are certified to be grown without the use of pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or genetically modified organisms.
Safe Synthetic Ingredients:
We use synthetic ingredients only where necessary to provide a specific function to improve product performance. Any synthetic ingredient that we work with is reviewed for historical use and potential safety concerns.. We define synthetic ingredient as a substance that is formulated or manufactured by a chemical process or by a process that chemically changes a substance extracted from naturally occurring plant or mineral sources.
Formulated for Safety
Made in the USA & EU
We are very proud to be manufacturing our products in both the USA and in the EU. We believe that this is absolutely critical to ensure compliance with our brand promise. Controlling the quality of our products and how they are handled at every stage is extremely important to our safety process.
All of our products have been third-party tested and reviewed by a dermatologist.
Clinically Tested on Sensitive Skin:
Our products during a third party study were tested on a subset of sensitive skin subjects for irritation and sensitization potential, where no reactions were reported. We deliver safe and effective formulas for sensitive skin types.
We third-party test our products to ensure that they are hypoallergenic. This means that they have been tested and shown to not cause any allergic reactions within the skin.
Fragrance-Free Skin Care & Cosmetics:
Our skin care and color cosmetic products do not include fragrances for several important reasons:
Synthetic fragrances and certain natural essential oils are at higher risk of causing skin irritation and sensitization. This is especially evident for those with delicate and sensitive skin types.
We avoid adding extra ingredients that don’t have a positive purpose or function within our formulas. Fragrances in skin care and cosmetics are often used to cover up or mask an odor from the base ingredients.
We think it is more important for the skin on your face to look and feel healthy, rather than placing additional ingredients into our products to make your face smell good.
There has been a lot of controversy regarding the safety of talc, where it is sourced from, and whether it has been contaminated with asbestos. Since we choose to formulate our products without talc, these issues are never in question.
Never Tested on Animals:
We NEVER test our products on animals, only on humans.
Easy to Use
We think skin care should be meaningful and easy.
Our 3-step approach to skin care keeps skin looking and feeling its best:
Gently wash away dirt and impurities while balancing oils and hydration within the skin.
Balance moisture within the skin while providing nourishing ingredients that promote a healthy looking complexion.
Applying SPF 30 Broad Spectrum sunscreen everyday helps to not only protect the skin from burns and sun damage, but when used with other sun protection measures decreases your risk of skin cancer and early skin aging caused by the sun.
We continue to innovate on ingredient safety, and expand into new categories to further address the specific needs and trends for this youthful age group. We want to ensure that we are creating safe and effective solutions for daily routines.
In addition, we aim to consciously provide sustainable and recyclable packaging whenever possible. All of our packaging materials are recyclable, and have been made of materials that have been thoughtfully sourced for this purposed. We work with the following recyclable materials:
- FSC Certified paper – Cartons, makeup palettes
- Tubes, Jars and Bottles - PET (polyethylene terephthalate), HDPE (high-density polyethylene, LDPE (low-density polyethylene, PP (polypropylene)
- To learn more about recycling, please reference the following recycling guide from Earth911
We third-party test all of our formulas to ensure that we are delivering upon our mission and purpose. The below are just a handful of the major tests we perform to ensure the safety and efficacy of our products.
HRIPT (Human Repeat Insult Patch Testing) Safety Testing)
Determines the product’s potential for irritation, sensitization and allergic contact. All C’est Moi products must pass RIPT tests with no irritation or reactions detected.
Preservative Effectiveness Test (PET)
Preservatives are what keep us healthy and safe from unwanted bacteria that can grow inside consumer products. We only use preservative systems that are proven safe at necessary and effective levels.
At C’est Moi™, we heavy metal test all of our products to verify that they meet or fall below established avoidable limits (TALs) set by various global markets. We routinely check production to ensure ongoing purity levels are met and that there are NO detectable levels of harmful heavy metals in our products such as lead, mercury, cadmium, antimony, arsenic, and polonium. Certain levels of exposure to heavy metals have been linked to negative and often severe health effects in humans. Heavy metals are naturally occurring in the earth and can become more concentrated within the human body when we live near, or work in, industrial manufacturing and mining facilities. Exposure to heavy metals commonly occurs through air pollution, water, food, cigarettes, work, school and our homes. Heavy metals are technically unavoidable and are most frequently found in colorants used within color cosmetics.
Sun Protection Factor (SPF)
Manufacturers must perform a range of testing according to FDA Established Drug Monographs to prove the claims on the label, from sun protection factor (SPF) to water resistance and Broad Spectrum. This helps assure consumers that a product will protect them and their families in the way the label promises. A third party laboratory, using paid human subjects, conducts the testing. SPF represents a sunscreen’s degree of protection mainly against ultraviolet A (UVA) and B (UVB), which cause sunburn and can lead to skin cancer. SPF doesn’t represent an amount of sun protection but rather a length of time. It gauges how long the sun would take to burn your skin when using a particular sunscreen compared with the amount of time without sunscreen.
